Hi, I’m Roger.
For the last 12+ years I’ve been a software engineer and engineering leader, building and running systems for companies like Volkswagen and Boeing. Big teams, big budgets, big problems.
Somewhere along the way I noticed something that bugged me: the businesses that need technology help the most — the restaurant down the street, the charter boat, the two-person contractor — are exactly the ones nobody serious will help. They’re too small for the big consultancies, too busy to figure it out themselves, and too often stuck with whoever answered a Craigslist ad.
Reasonable Computer Consulting is my answer to that. Same engineer the big companies hire. Sized and priced for the businesses that actually run this area.
WHAT “REASONABLE” MEANS
Why I named it “Reasonable”
Because that’s the whole promise, in one word:
Reasonable solutions. I build the simplest thing that solves your problem. If a $30-a-month tool does the job, I will never sell you custom software. Twelve years of engineering taught me that the best technology is the kind you stop thinking about.
Reasonable prices. Flat fees, agreed up front. You’ll never watch a clock run while we talk on the phone, and you’ll never open an invoice with a surprise in it.
Reasonable advice. If you don’t need something, I’ll say so — even when saying so costs me money. I’d rather keep a client for ten years than land one big invoice. Ask me if you need a new website and there’s a real chance I’ll tell you no.
HOW I WORK
What it’s like to work with me
You deal with me — not an account manager, not a ticket queue, not an offshore help desk. I explain things in plain English, and if I ever slip into jargon, call me on it.
I answer questions like “is this email a scam?” and “why is my laptop slow?” without making you feel dumb for asking. That’s not a distraction from my job. That is the job.
And I document everything I set up for you, in writing you can understand. If we ever part ways, you keep the keys to your own business. No hostage-taking — you’d be surprised how rare that is in this industry.
